At this time, the dates and venues for the two residential narrowboating weekends in May and September 2008 have still to be confirmed. Timings for the weekend are likely to be arrival at the venue from 1830 hours on the Friday and departure approximately 1800 hours on the Sunday. The fee for each weekend will be £75.00 which is inclusive of boat hire, training, food and accommodation - travel to and from the venue is not included in this fee.
These weekend trainings are open to Guiders and/or partners who are involved in Guiding, Unit Helpers and members of the Senior Section, aged 18 years or over. To be considered for the GGA Powercruising Certificate, beginners and those with little experience will probably need to attend two weekend courses. For those with more experience, one training weekend may be sufficient but not necessarily so. Every adult with girls on a narrowboat must be CRB approved and those taking the GGA Certificate need to have a current First Aid qualification [minimum First Response or equivalent].
If you wish to express your interest in either of these weekends, please complete the Expression of Interest form, save to your Desktop and email as an attachment to the Region Office. When dates and venues have been confirmed, an application form will be sent to you for confirmation of your attendance and payment of the fees.
All our Walking courses, except the Basic Expedition Leader courses (BEL), can be adapted to cover other aspects to suit particular needs. Print the application form for the weekends outlined below and send to Region Office enclosing the full fees for the weekend(s) of your choice. See the SW Region website for more information.

This weekend is designed to give Guiders and members of the Senior Section the opportunity to develop their walking skills and confidence in Remote country. Your previous experience should equate to that of Level 2 of the Walking Scheme and you should be prepared for some tough walking in difficult conditions if the weather is bad.
